Product Development Intern

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Product Development Intern will have a hands-on experience and gain insight into how design, product development, production, and distribution are executed at Wholesale Boutique.     

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  (hands-on experience)

 

  • Research and follow consumer behavior to identify current trends to apply to product designs
  • Create inspiration boards for upcoming seasons
  • Work with internal teams to help manage the new product planning process from design to production and through delivery
  • Coordinate samples and communicate changes or additional details to vendor
  • Maintain and update competitive analysis of products and companies

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Junior or Senior currently enrolled at a college or university
  • Fashion Design/Product Development Major preferred
  • Apparel, handbag, and costume/fashion jewelry experience is a plus

 

SKILLS & ABILITIES: 

 

  • Available to work 10 – 20 hours per week
  • Proficient using Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet
  • In Design, Photoshop, Illustrator experience is a plus  
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and strong organizational skills 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Creative thinker who can work well individually as well as with a team
  • Positive attitude and demonstrated passion for product development
  • Strong work ethic and motivation to learn

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

  • Visual Inspection, color distinction, reading, performing detailed work at close distances (i.e. computer screens),
  • Hand/eye coordination, measuring/assembling/writing
  • Hearing/listening
  • Talking, verbal communication of detailed information to others either by phone or in person
  • Must be able to speak and read the English language
  • Sitting

Occasional (30 – 60%)

  • Standing, walking, stooping, bending, squatting and climbing stairs
  • Pushing, pulling and reaching
  • Lifting: 0 – 30 lbs.
