Wood Sander
REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor
POSTION SUMMARY:
The Wood Sander’s responsibility is to ensure smoothness of freshly cut wood monograms & other home décor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists in unclamping & detaching individual wood monograms or decor
- Removes rough edges from item(s) using hand and power sanding tools
- Examines finished item(s) for smoothness and conformity to order specifications
- Communicates any imperfections or defects (knot holes, splits etc.) for re-dos
- Ensures correct tag is affixed to finished item(s)
- Delivers to Boxer or places in appropriate area for wood processing
- Maintains cleanliness of work station to ensure compliance with safety regulations
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED; or 1 to 3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education & experience
- Basic personal computer skills
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Oral Comprehension – Listening to and understanding information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Language Skills – Ability to read a limited number of 2 & 3 syllable words & to recognize similarities and differences between words & series of numbers. Ability to print & speak simple sentences.
- Reasoning Ability – Applying common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
- Time Management – Managing one’s own time
- Operation Monitoring – Watching gauges, dials or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Mathematical Skills – Adding & subtracting two digit numbers and to multiply & divide with 10’s and 100’s.
